WBC/WBA welterweight and junior middleweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. (47-0, 26KOs) will not be entertaining fans in Melbourne on Thursday, as originally promised - and it remains to be seen whether he ever will be.

Mayweather is still waiting for the Australian Government to issue him with a visa, which may or may not be forthcoming. Based on some of his controversial incidents which took place outside of the ring, campaigners against domestic violence have lobbied hard for him to be barred from entering the country.

Promoter and publicist Max Markson said on Wednesday the trip had been postponed and Mayweather would announce new dates when the visa was issued.

Mayweather originally planned to do a talk show over dinner in Melbourne on Thursday night, moving to Sydney on Friday night.
