Mauro Barrios, son of former world champion Jorge Rodrigo La Hyena Barrios, made his debut as a professional boxer with a second-round TKO victory over Santa Cruz's Leonardo Baez in a match that took place at the General Paz Sports Center in Cordoba.

Barrios, 24 years old, premiered his presence in the pro ranks with a form, because when he was being controlled by Baez at the beginning of the fight, he unloaded a combination of left and right to the head with which he put his opponent on the canvas.

Baez got up, before another barrage of Barrios' punches put him down, but the sound of the bell allowed him to avoid the situation. In the second round, Barrios came out looking for the kill - and after another knockdown of Baez, the referee stopped the fight.

Back in February of this year, Jorge Barrios (50-4-1, 35KOs) was released from prison. He was scheduled to be paroled in March, but came out early and will be on probation after spending two years and three months in the Olmos maximum security prison in Argentina.

In 2010 in Mar del Plata, Barrios was involved in an automobile accident where he killed a pregnant woman and then fled the scene. Eight hours later he turned himself in. He was arrested and then, after spending 22 days in jail, paid bail and remained in the town of Junin.

Finally, in November 2014 Barrios was arrested and charged for the crime of manslaughter and was issued a sentence to serve of 3 years and 7 months, although at first it was four years and then lowered.

The boxer turned 41-years-old in August.

Barrios has been inactive since October of 2010. He won his last three fights after suffering a TKO defeat in a close and exciting fight with Rocky Juarez in September 2008 in Houston, Texas,
