Back in May, Lucas Matthysse discussed the possibility of coming back to the ring.

In July of 2018, Matthysse (39-5, 36 KOs) was dominated and stopped by Manny Pacquiao in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

While he never officially announced his retirement, the Argentine puncher was perceived to be a retired fighter.

But now Matthysse is making it clear that he doesn't plan to return to the ring and his ongoing retirement from the sport is going to remain in place.

“The desire is always there, but I'm not going to come back, never again. I miss everything about boxing, but this retirement is final," Matthysse told Radio Sudaka.

"I gave more than 25 years of my life... dedicated to training and fighting, so that's why when I go to a gym or when I'm helping my sister Soledad, my brother-in-law Mario Narváez or my nephew [Ezequiel] - I move around, I shadowbox, I throw a few punches, but nothing more than that. I feel very well physically, which sometimes makes me think a little [about returning], but immediately I fall right back and say enough, that's it.

“I achieved more than I could have imagined. So when the bug bites me, I wonder why I would come back, why, if I achieved everything I set out to do and even more. I fought with the best and always as the visitor. I would never change anything I did. It was not easy to leave [my home]. I was very young when I decided.

"When I later watched my fights, calm and sitting at home, I was proud of what I did. Then I would read or listen to stupid things and I would get hot. They criticized me even as world champion. I never betrayed myself. Once I was offered a chance to change promoters. It was a very tempting offer, but also breaking my code of ethics and that's why I continued with Golden Boy, who had my token of appreciation."
