Foro Polanco Masaryk in Mexico City - Returning for the first time since last September's two round knockout at the hands of Lucas Matthysse, junior welterweight contender Roberto “Massa” Ortiz (32-1-1 24 KOs) won a ten round unanimous decision over Juan Jesus “Burbuja” Rivera (27-12, 17 KOs). The scores were 98-92, 99-91, 98-92.

Ortiz started slow but quickly picked up the pace and punished his opponent in the later rounds. Knowing he was well ahead on points, Ortiz coasted in the final around to secure the decision win.

Also on the card, Guadalupe "Lupita" Martinez surprised Judith Rodriguez and snatched the silver super flyweight title of the World Boxing Council (WBC) by unanimous decision in ten rounds.

Abner Mares' brother appeared on the card, lightweight prospect Adan “Speedy” Mares (13-1-1, 3 KOs) - and he was upset by way of an eight round split decision to Luis “Titan” Sanchez (17-3-1, 5 KOs). The scores were 79-73, 77-74 for Sanchez and 75-76 for Mares.

The card was aired by De La Hoya TV and Fox Sports Deportes.
