The Judge has restored order in his boxing court.

Japan’s Masayuki Ito returned to the win column in a fight designed for that very purpose, although having to survive an early scare from an accidental foul to stop Indonesia’s Ruben Manakane in six rounds Friday evening at the famed Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan.

A relatively one-sided affair came to a close after Ito (26-2-1, 14KOs) dropped Mananake (25-19-1, 14KOs) three times in forcing the stoppage at 1:08 of round six.

The bout marked Ito’s first ring appearance since conceding his 130-pound title in a 12-round points loss to Jamel Herring this past May in Kissimmee, Fla. His title reign and nine-fight win streak came to an end, prompting a return to his home nation which hosted his last victory, a one-sided seven-round thrashing of previously unbeaten Evgeny Chuprakov last December in his lone successful title defense.

Friday’s matchup wasn’t intended to provide a competitive matchup but did present Ito with adversity right out the gate. An unintentional clash of heads left the former titlist with swelling around his eye, reportedly altering his vision for the balance of the contest.

Despite the injury, the threat of an upset never surfaced. Ito pushed through the pain to overwhelm his visiting foe to emerge victorious at a venue which has housed all but four of his 29 pro bouts to date.

Ito weighed 134.5 pounds for the contest, five more than in his aforementioned title losing effort to Herring four months ago. He hopes to return to the title mix, whether at super featherweight or lightweight.

“I want to be back in a world title fight, by my next fight if given the chance,” Ito told Japan’s Fuji TV, which will air the fight in full via tape delay later this month.
