This crossroads fight between fighters coming off recent adversities (Martin Murray 2-2 in last four, Gabe Rosado 2-4 in last six), Murray impose the long-range boxing match better suited to his style. Still, Rosado worked the body well (98 of 159 power connects) and was the better finisher in the final two rounds (46-36 overall, 43-26 power).

After the fight, the tension that was evident from the middle rounds forward boiled over in a shoving match following the announcement of the decision, which Rosado bitterly protested (particularly the scandalous 119-109 score turned in by Leszek Jankowiak) and Murray objected to Rosado's pre-fight talk and post-fight objection. Thankfully, order was eventually restored.

Martin Murray beat Gabriel Rosado on a controversial majority points decision to claim the WBA Inter-continental middleweight championship title in Liverpool.

Murray was awarded the victory on a split decision, with one judge scoring it 119-109 in the St Helens fighter’s favour.

That incensed Rosado, who berated the judges after the fight and had to be pulled away from Murray as the two men squared up in a near brawl.

Murray was perhaps the better boxer throughout, but had to withstand a late barrage as Rosado tried to get the knockout in the final couple of rounds.
