SSE Arena, Wmbley - Late stand-in Martin Gethin (27-8-1, 11KOs) sensationally knocks out John Wayne Hibbert (17-4-0, 11KOs) to pick up the IBF international super lightweight title.

Gethin, 33, landed a thundering flush right hand to stun Hibbert in the middle of the ring before finishing the job with another right hand 2 minutes 28 seconds into round four.

Hibbert was originally due to face Tommy Coyle, but had turn his attentions to the ‘Quiet Man’ from Walsall on Tuesday.

Essex-based Hibbert seemed unable to make the adjustment as he was hurt by a left hook in the opening round before Gethin followed up by bloodying the nose of the 31-year-old in the second.

Gethin had considered retiring after a four round points win last Saturday but found the temptation of one last shot at international honours too great to turn down.

Carrying on proved to be a great decision as he was able to take all that Hibbert had to throw at him before landing a highlight reel knockout.
