Heavyweight contender Martin Bakole is gunning for a showdown with veteran Dillian Whyte.

The two fighters were involved in backstage altercation last Saturday night in Poland.

Multiple videos surfaced on social media, displaying a heated war of words between Whyte and Bakole.

Bakole saw in action in the co-feature, as he blew away Ihor Shevadzutskyi in three rounds.

Whyte was ringside to support Alen Babic, who was stopped in the main event by Lukasz Rozanski.

"The only guy I can fight right now is Dillian Whyte," Bakole said on Sky Sports News. "[Whyte] is hiding. All he has is arguments and to insult. I want him in the ring. If he beats me then he can insult me. Sign the contract and make the fight happen."

The possibility of facing Whyte will be a longshot at the moment.

Whyte is still under heavy consideration to face British superstar Anthony Joshua in a rematch being tabbed to take place in the second half of the year. Unless that opportunity falls apart, Whyte is likely to remain on the sidelines.

Bakole will have to take what he can get until a mandatory position is secured or a top contender elects to face him.

"I know I can stop all these guys. I can box, I can punch, everything is perfect. It is time for me to take over the division. They are avoiding me, they are scared.

"I sparred Daniel Dubois, I sparred [Derek] Chisora, I sparred Joe Joyce, I sparred Anthony Joshua, and the Gypsy King [Tyson Fury]. If you ask all the coaches, they say something good about me. They never mention anything bad. I'm a monster.

"I stopped Usyk with a body shot in sparring, I broke Daniel Dubois' nose in sparring. I stopped him twice. I think that's the reason they are avoiding me."
