Colombian puncher Miguel "El Escorpión" Marriaga (25-1, 21 KOs) is training in Mexico City with full focus on one of the most important fights of his career.

On the night of April 22, Marriaga will collide with world champion Oscar Valdez (21-0, 19 KOs) of Mexico for the World Boxing Organization (WBO) featherweight world championship at StubHub Center in Carson, California, United States.

Regarding his take on Valdez, Marriaga mentioned - "I've already seen him, I've analyzed him in several videos and he's nothing out of this world. He's the champion now and hopefully everything things will be given to us. We have to wait for the fight, we will give everything of ourselves to be world champion."

Miguel is counting on the help of his talented team and Boxing Telemundo talentes such as Carlos "El Fino" Ruiz and Alejandro "Payasito" Hernandez, both training to the fullest while waiting to know the dates for their next commitments.

"We are going to fight for a world title and it is a great joy for me and for all of the Colombian people. It is a great opportunity and we must take advantage of it, we hope that everything is given to us. We are preparing to the maximum to make sure that title comes back to Colombia," said Marriaga.

Marriaga already had a chance to fight for a world title on June 13, 2015 against Nicholas Walters, who won a unanimous decision. Walters was unable to make weight for that fight and came to the ring as a much bigger fighter.

"It's a great opportunity that we had with Nicholas Walters. I had the opportunity to be champion but hey, it was a great experience that I got in that fight because he was very heavy. I think he made things easier for himself [by coming in heavy]. You have to keep going and that's what we have right now, the mentality of being champion," Marriaga said.

Marriaga will leave for America on April 16 to start with the promotional activities for the fight and put in the final touches to his preparation.
