Mark Heffron has been ruled out of his next fight through injury.

The British super-middleweight champion had been set to defend his title next month.

Heffron, who trains at Champs’ Camp in Manchester under the watchful eye of Joe Gallagher, was set for action on July 1.

But the Oldham fighter, 31, has suffered an unspecified injury that will keep him away from the ring in a few weeks’ time.

‘Kid Dynamite’ was lined up to put the Lonsdale belt at stake against Zak Chelli, his mandatory challenger who has a record of 13-1-1 with six quick, at the AO Arena in Manchester.

The fight had been set to form part of the supporting cast to Franchon Crews-Dezurn’s super-middleweight undisputed showdown against former WBO middleweight champion Savannah Marshall, exclusively live on Sky Sports, but it remains unclear whether a replacement will be found for Chelli to stay on the show.

The show, originally set to be topped by the rearranged rematch between Liam Smith and Chris Eubank Jr. before that was cancelled due to injury to the Liverpudlian, will be promoted by Ben Shalom for Boxxer and will feature Olympic silver medallist Ben Whittaker in his fourth professional outing as well as the return of undefeated super-middleweight talent Callum Simpson.

April Hunter will get the chance to avenge her October 2021 defeat at the hands of former European welterweight champion Kirstie Bavington, who is going into the fight on the back of two defeats, while Boxing Scene understands that Natasha Jonas will step down in weight to contest the vacant IBF crown at welterweight against Canada’s Kandi Wyatt –– who beat the aforementioned ‘Bavvo’ on points in the UK back in March –– on the card, despite previously being set to defend her WBO, IBF and WBC world super-welterweight titles.
