Aware of the situation in Mexico due to COVID-19, local superstar Mariana "La Barbie" Juárez wants to support fellow professionals who at the moment are going through difficult times.

Many are the boxers who live day to day on a financial level - and after weeks of preparation expect a fight to reclaim the money they spent and use the remainder for things they need, but the ongoing coronavirus pandemic has dozens of them without work and most of them have no other means to generate money.

"I identify with the boxing community, with the boys who live on a day to day basis and who now cannot fight. I can only imagine what my colleagues who are in this situation are going through," Juarez told the Notimex news agency.

Thus, the bantamweight world champion of the World Boxing Council (WBC) called on other boxers and promoters to lend their support.

"I'm making a call to my colleagues, that we shake hands and provide whatever support they we can get to them. (I ask) for the promoters to not to leave their boys out there (with no financial support), because they are a part of the company," commented Juarez.

Mariana, who this Wednesday completed a three year mark since having captured the WBC bantamweight title, discussed her next fight against fellow Mexican star Jackie Nava, as she waits for the contingency to end so the bout can be rescheduled, since it was agreed upon to take place on May 9.

"We are still at the gym working, it had been said that the date would be moved in order [for the card] to be carried out," Juarez said.
