As reported this past Thursday here at Boxingscene.com, WBO 147-pound champion Antonio Margarito and his team had not yet decided to vacate the title and were planning to make a final decision last Friday.

After meeting with Top Rank, Team Margarito is now considering the possibility of facing his mandatory challenger, Paul “Punisher” Williams.

Francisco Espinoza who is part of Margarito’s management team stated, “We have not made a final decision yet, but Antonio (Margarito) is seriously considering making his mandatory title defense.”

There are still several issues that need to be discussed before Team Margarito makes their final decision.

Espinoza added, “We are scheduled to meet again this Wednesday and, hopefully, we can have a final decision made on that day.  “There are several legal issues to be discussed since our promoter (Top Rank) does not hold the rights to the fight.”

BoxingScene.com will continue to monitor the developments of this situation.
