Madison Square Garden, New York City - Antonio Margarito wasn't happy with the tenth round stoppage in Saturday's rematch against WBA junior middleweight champion Miguel Cotto. Around the third round, Margarito's right eye began to swell up. The right was badly damaged in last year's decision loss to Manny Pacquiao. Margarito had a major surgical procedure earlier this year and had an artificial lens inserted into the eye. By the tenth round, the eye appeared to have been swollen shut. The doctors stopped the fight, but Margarito disagrees with their decision.

"His mom came up to me and asked if he hits like a girl and I said 'yeah, the punches didn't hurt me. The swelling [in my eye] got worse and worse and that's the reason. There was a little bit of favortism because my eye was worse when I fought [Manny] Pacquiao. The doctor asked me three times about how many fingers I was holding. I answered correctly three times. I asked the doctor for one more round but he didn't want to give it to me. I felt like this was the continuation of the first fight. I think the last couple of rounds would have been mine. I was started to connect. He was holding and I was starting to land a lot of punches. All I asked for was one more round. I promised that if I would have gotten one more round, I would have gave it all," Margarito said.

During the fight, Margarito said he was taunting Cotto in every round.

"I was telling him, 'your punches aren't hurting. How about my punches? Do they hurt? Stop and fight,'" Margarito said.
