Former world welterweight champion Antonio Margarito has shaken off some recent comments which reportedly came from two-division world champion Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez.

Margarito is scheduled to face Canelo's older brother, Ramon 'Inocente' Alvarez, on August 13 at the Convention Center Rosarito in Baja California, Mexico with Azteca 7, La Casa del Boxeo, handling the television. Zanfer Promotions President Fernando Beltran confirmed the fight details a few weeks ago.

The contest will take place at the junior middleweight limit of 154-pounds over a ten round distance. The Convention Center has a capacity for 8,000 fans.

Margarito (39-8, 27 KOs) returns after a thrilling win over Jorge Paez Jr. He was forced to get off the floor to fight his way to a unanimous ten round decision at Arena Mexico City on March 5 after a retirement from boxing of almost 5 years. Margarito is training in San Diego for the fight.

"I felt a little rusty before the Paez fight after being out for so long, but now we're on pace. I like the fight against Ramon Alvarez and the styles will provide an exciting fight for the fans," Margarito said.

Alvarez (23-4-2, 15 KOs), a fan favorite in Mexico, is coming off an impressive streak of 10 wins including dominating decision over Omar Chavez, the younger brother of Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.

In a few interviews, Margarito promised to knock off Ramon and get his hands on younger sibling Canelo.

According to Margarito, Canelo made a few comments about him to the Mexican press. Margarito replied back.

"I heard the other day that Canelo was saying that I'm thinking too far ahead, that I'm still far away from being able to fight with him. But he has to remember that I was already in that position [that Canelo is in] - and I faced better opponents and I didn't turn away from anyone. He said that I should first focus on beating his brother and I'm doing that, but my objective are the big fights and if it won't be him then someone else," Margarito told ESPN Deportes.
