The President of Golden Boy Promotions, Oscar De La Hoya, says a fight between Leo Santa Cruz (28-0-1, 16KOs) and Abner Mares (27-1-1, 14KOs) at the Staples Center in Los Angeles is a very possible  match for 2015. Both fighters work with Golden Boy and both fighters share the same manager, Al Haymon. De La Hoya is interested in making very big fights and he sees Santa Cruz vs. Mares as one of the bigger matches to be made on the West Coast.

"It is an interesting fight, both are popular, they are good fighters and I'm sure it would fill up the Staples Center - if we can reach an agreement," explained De la Hoya. "We are interested in a fight between him and Leo, I think people want to see that fight."

"They're both Mexican and live in Los Angeles, the two of them have their supporters and I think the boxing scene in LA will have a big fight and certainly a lot of people will be talking about that fight."
