Fringe super middleweight contender Marcos Reyes stopped Miguel Angel Suarez of Argentina late Saturday night at the Gimnasio Rodrigo M. Quevedo in Chihuahua, Chihuahua, Mexico.

Fighting before a partisan, hometown crowd, Reyes went on the attack from the opening bell. The former middleweight battered Suarez, who had built his record by fighting mediocre opposition.

The 30-year-old Reyes (36-5, 27 knockouts) never let up his attack on Suarez, continuing to beat the Argentine fighter around the ring. Reyes finally ended matters in the second round, trapping Suarez in a corner and raining overhand rights and lefts to the head. Referee Rocky Burke saw enough, stopping the bout at 1:39.

It was Reyes' first fight since May 6, when he lost a 10 round unanimous decision to David Lemieux.

Suarez drops to 15-1, 9 KOs.

Middleweight prospect Misael Rodriguez (7-0, 4 KOs) stopped Geronimo Barbadillo in the second round.

The 2016 Olympic bronze medalist, who resides in nearby Parral, dropped Barbadillo with a left-right combination to the head. Barbadillo beat the count, but was battered with a barrage of punches, prompting referee Rocky Burke to stop the bout at 1:00.

Barbadillo (18-6-1, 15 KOs) has now lost three of his last four bouts.

Junior middleweight Mario Lozano, who also resides in the city of Chihuahua, won an eight round unanimous decision over Luis Jesus Vidales (12-6, 6 KOs).

Scores were 78-74, 78-74, and 79-73 for Lozano, who improves to 32-8, 23 KOs.
