Argentina's Marcos "El Chino" Maidana is not characterized by making long statements, but when he does speak he does it in a concise and convincing manner. During several interviews, Erik "El Terrible" Morales has claimed that Maidana is not willing to give him a rematch. Maidana won a close twelve round majority decision over Morales in April. During a recent interview on Radio Belgrano, Maidana downplayed the recent accusations from Morales, who claimed Maidana was a "very dirty fighter."

The puncher from Argentina is very open to rematch with Morales, who faces Maidana's countryman, Lucas Matthysse, on September 17th for the vacant WBC 140-pound title. Maidana wished Morales luck in the fight, because he would love a unification rematch at the end of the year.

"I'd like to meet Morales. I disregard their statements. I am very sure of myself. I've always had the same [fighting] characteristics. Beyond that I want him to do well against Lucas Matthysse, because I would like a rematch with Morales. The cancellation of the fight with Robert Guerrero changed my plans a bit," Maidana said.
