Marc Castro will make his professional debut in a couple of months’ time.

The featherweight amateur sensation, whose road to the Tokyo 2020 Olympics with Team USA was derailed by illness, inked a promotional deal with Eddie Hearn and Matchroom Boxing USA recently.

Castro is a two-time World youth amateur champion and a 16-time national champion in the vest and headguard.

He is managed by Keith Connolly and is set to begin his journey as a paid puncher on April 17.

Castro will be showcased on a show that will have world title action on it.

Regis Prograis and Maurice Hooker meet in a 143-pound catchweight clash at the MGM National Harbor in Oxon Hill, Maryland, exclusively live on Sky Sports in the UK and DAZN Stateside.

And the aforementioned Hearn revealed that Castro would be featured on the bill before boxing all over the world.

The show is expected to have the vacant WBC lightweight world title clash between Luke Campbell and Javier Fortuna added to it, with further information regarding the supporting cast revealed in due course.

Boxing Scene understands that, as part of Castro’s deal with Hearn and Matchroom, the 20-year-old, who resides in California, will gain exposure in different territories.

He has already been earmarked as a potential addition to the supporting cast of Anthony Joshua’s homecoming defence of his IBF, WBA Super, IBO and WBO world heavyweight titles against Bulgaria’s Kubrat Pulev.

Hearn told Boxing Scene’s Keith Idec that the fight between Joshua and Pulev, the IBF mandatory challenger, will take place on June 20 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, exclusively live on Sky Sports Box Office in the UK and DAZN Stateside.

It has yet to be formally announced, but it is thought that Castro will be in action in April and June before potentially fighting in Saudi Arabia, Spain and Germany before the year is out.
