LAS VEGAS – Marc Castro made much easier work of Pedro Vicente on Saturday than he did of Julio Madera two months ago.

The bigger, stronger, younger Castro picked apart Puerto Rico’s Vicente on his way to an easy points victory on the Canelo Alvarez-Dmitry Bivol undercard at T-Mobile Arena. Judges Eric Cheek (60-54), Max De Luca (60-54) and Patricia Morse Jarman (60-54) all scored Castro each of the six rounds of this lightweight fight for Castro.

The 22-year-old Castro, of Fresno, California, went the distance for the second time as a pro (7-0, 5 KOs). Castro also fought for the first time since he got up from a second-round knockdown to win a six-round unanimous decision over Mexico’s Madera (3-2, 2 KOs) on March 5 at Pechanga Arena in San Diego.

The 33-year-old Vicente, of Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, fell to 7-5-1 (2 KOs).

Castro tried to finish off the game Vicente during the sixth and final round.

They traded right hands in the opening five seconds of the sixth round. A left-right combination by Castro backed up Vicente 45 seconds into the sixth round.

Castro clipped Vicente with a right hand just after the midway mark of the fifth round and otherwise controlled that round.

Vicente landed a right hand about 50 seconds into the fourth round, but it didn’t affect Castro. With about 30 seconds to go in the fourth round, Castro connected with back-to-back lefts to Vicente’s body.

A combination by Castro backed up Vicente with 50 seconds to go in the third round. A right-left combination by Castro also snapped back Vicente’s head just before the third round ended.

Castro continued to bust up Vicente with lefts and rights to his head throughout the second round. Vicente tried to fire back at times, but he was overmatched against a younger, stronger opponent.

Castro was the aggressor throughout the first round, when he landed hard shots to Vicente’s head and body. Vicente looked reluctant to engage during those opening three minutes.
