Heavyweight title challenger Manuel Charr (22-1, 13KOs) has changed trainers. Charr has retained the services of British coach Scott Welch, a former professional heavyweight boxer and former British/Commonwealth champion. Welch had challenged and lost to then WBO champion Henry Akinwande in 1997. Welch finished his career in 1999. Welch is also known for his fight with Brad Pitt's character in Guy Ritchie's movie "Snatch."

Last year, Welch coached former European champion Alexander Dimitrenko in his fight with Kubrat Pulev, after which the partnership was terminated. Welch noted that the preparation time was too short.

Charr returns on February 22 in Romania against Yakup Saglam (28-1, 25KOs) for the WBC's silver international title.
