LONDON - Former world champion and Showtime expert analyst, Paulie Malignaggi, does not believe Gennady "GGG" Golovkin (37-0, 33 KOs) was "exposed" during last month's tough twelve round decision victory over mandatory challenger Daniel Jacobs (32-2, 29 KOs) at New York's Madison Square Garden.

In that contest, Golovkin went the twelve round distance for the first time in his career. Coming in, he stopped 23 opponents in a row. He retained his WBC, WBA, IBO, IBF middleweight titles with close scores of 115-112, 115-112 and 114-113.

During a recent interview, Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach, who handles former four division world champion Miguel Cotto (40-5, 33 KOs), explained that he felt Golovkin was exposed in the win over Jacobs.

Based on Golovkin's last performance, Roach is even willing to put Cotto in the ring with GGG at the end of the year.

"[Cotto] might have a big fight coming up because we’re talking him and GGG next. That’s a fight that I do not turn down. I like GGG. He’s a friend of mine. He’s a very good worker. He’s a hard fight for anybody, he’s a very, very big puncher. But I think he’s beatable and I think he was exposed a little bit in his last fight. We’re ready for that. It’s the last super-fight out there in the weight division and that’s who we want to fight in our last fight. We want to make history,” Roach told Boxing News.

Malignaggi disagrees. He explains that it's not a case of Golovkin being exposed, but more of a case where a lot of observers underestimated the boxing ability of Jacobs.

"Triple G is the goods. Jacobs is also the goods. That's all that was about. They’re both good fighters. You’ve got to put on a hell of an effort to do that Danny Jacobs did. He didn’t expose anything in that fight. You better come good to get Triple G look like that. Danny proved that. He’s the one that has the goods more so than Triple G is in there lacking," said Malignaggi to BoxingScene.com.
