Marcos Maidana (35-4, 31KOs) is very upbeat despite his recent twelve round majority decision loss to Floyd Mayweather Jr. (46-0, 26KOs) in their welterweight unification at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

He did much better than any could have expected, lifting the spirits of the Argentine boxing fans. Maidana also made millions of new of new fans with his spirited outing, which many believed would be a one-sided wipeout.

Maidana says he may have lost the fight on the official scorecards, but he believes he did enough to win the contest.

A rematch is potentially possible for September 13.

"I lost the fight [on the cards] but won the affection of the people, which is priceless," Maidana said.

"Floyd is a good fighter, did his job and knew how to handle the fight better. But nobody has hit him as much as I hit him. Many fighters who have fought with him showed too much respect and they wouldn't dare to attack him. I came forward the entire time. They need to give me the rematch because I was the true winner of the fight."
