There was an international club match-up this past Saturday at the Ivanhoe Country Club, near the city of Podolsk, Russia, arranged by Pavel Popov and Dmitry Bogomolov of the Podolsk Fighting League. Russia was fighting Tanzanian in a four-match main event of the evening. Local fighters made a clear sweep at the end, scoring four wins in as many fights, two of them inside the distance.

Lightweight puncher Roman Andreev improved his record to 15-0, with 11 KOs, and captured a vacant PABA lightweight title with a technical decision over rugged Ramadhani Shauri (16-4-1, 9 KOs). Andreev was dominating in a majority of rounds but Shauri fought back vigilantly. The fight was stopped in the seventh after a severe cut over Andreev’s left eye following an accidental headbutt. Scoring was 70-63 across the boards at the time of stoppage.

Arif Magomedov, 21, capped his wonderful debut year in style, crushing Thomas Mashali (9-2-1, 5 KOs) with a wicked body combination in round two. Magomedov is a Russian middleweight champion and 8-0, with 6 KOs.

Bantamweight Nikolay Potapov (11-0, 6 KOs) scored a convincing win over Nasibu Ramadhani (12-4, 5 KOs) over ten with a unanimous decision in a rugged fight. Scores were 99-92 (twice) and 97-94 – for the local hero.

In the most heated bout of the evening, Russian cruiserweight journeyman Ruslan Semenov (5-25-1, 3 KOs) stopped once-beaten Alphonce Mchumiatumbo (10-2-1, 9 KOs) in four rounds. Also in a local encounter, Konstantin Piternov (14-4, 5 KOs) halted Varazdat Chernikov (5-2, 1 KO) with a hard shot to the solar plexus in the sixth.
