On May 5 in Yekaterinburg, RCC Boxing Promotions (Titov Boxing Promotions), with the support of the Sverdlovsk Region Governor, held a press conference to announce that they were moving forward with a planned event.

The original main event was scheduled to feature rising prospect Magomed Kurbanov battle former three division world champion Shane Mosley. Their fight was postponed to September 9 after Mosley suffered a hand injury in training camp.

However, Kurbanov will still enter the ring on May 5th as he is in good physical shape, and fundamental changes in his preparation for the ring return is not a big factor.

A new opponent has already been finalized for the date.

"Magomed has chosen a new opponent. We had many strong and worthy options - for example, the top five fighters from the WBO rankings - the Australian and Czech athletes. However, despite the consent of their managers and promoters, they refused. As a result, we have agreed to fight with Virgilijus Stapulionis, a Lithuanian boxer,"  said Alexey Titov.

The new opponent for Kurbanov is 30 years old, with 27 victories (including 19 by KO), and has suffered four defeats and one battle to a draw.

"I'm not upset with the turn of events due to the injury Shane Mosley," Kurbanov said. "Of course, I'd like to have this fight with a boxing legend. And I hope we will meet in the autumn with Shane in the ring. In the meantime, I continue training as usual, the specificity of training principle will not change. I'm ready to fight with my new opponent. Very good results were obtained in camp."

The undercard will feature the return of former IBF world featherweight champion Evgeny Gradovich , who faces Colombian Hugo Berrio for the WBA Inter-Continental title in the junior lightweight division.

Tickets for the card can be purchased through kassir.ru sites https://ekb.kassir.ru  and https://www.uralbilet.ru
