After winning the WBO 122-pound title from Nonito Donaire last November, Jessie Magdaleno made the first defense of that belt by blowing out the over-matched Adelison Dos Santos in two rounds on April 22nd.

His manager Frank Espinoza says - ''Jessie is now getting ready for his next title defense, it will most likely be in late October. He has really blossomed under the direction of trainer Manuel Robles in Carson (California), he's found new focus and discipline and turning into the type of boxer we all knew he could be."

The other champions of the division include WBC beltholder Rey Vargas of Mexico, Cuba's Guillermo Rigondeaux is the champion of the WBA and Yukinori Oguni of Japan is the world champion under the IBF. Vargas and Oguni both have upcoming defenses, while Rigondeaux was recently ordered by the WBA to have a mandatory rematch with Moises Flores.

There is a lot of chatter about Magdaleno (25-0, 18 KO's) facing Cesar Juarez, who is ranked number one in the WBO rankings.

"As of now, we have not been notified that Jessie has to fulfill his mandatory defense by the organization," explained Espinoza.

"But we understand there are responsibilities in being a champion and rules to be followed with the WBO. Whoever Jessie faces next, he'll be ready."
