2012 Olympic gold medal winner Luke Campbell (17-1, 14 KOs) is eager to get in the ring with WBA lightweight champion Jorge Linares (42-3, 27 KOs).

Campbell, who is the mandatory challenger, will attempt to snap Linares' 11-fight win streak on Saturday, September 23, at Los Angeles’ “Fabulous” Forum. The event will be televised live on HBO.

This will be Linares' first fight in the United States in three years. Three of Linares' last three fights took place in the UK, while others landed in Japan and Venezuela.

Ironically, Campbell also fought in the United States three years ago. It was his only fight outside of the UK, and he picked up his seventh win on the Shawn Porter-Kell Brook undercard from the StubHub Center in Carson, California.

Campbell has defeated five solid contenders in a row including Darleys Perez, “Dirty” Derry Matthews, and Argenis Mendez since his only defeat nearly two years ago. Four of those five fights were won by knockout.

Some observers believe Campbell lacks the proper experience to face a veteran like Linares.

Campbell disagrees.

"It's really what every boxer dreams of," Campbell told Sky Sports News. "I've dreamed of this for a lot of years fighting for a world title, against a great champion. This is what boxing's all about.

"I want to fight best and Jorge is the best, so I am doing it the tough way. I am going into his backyard, he has beaten guys over here but it's going to be a great fight. I am excited to have the opportunity, and would like to thank Linares and his team for giving me the opportunity, but I will be ready come fight night.

"I've beaten a couple of former world champions and got the job done, but he is the current world champion but this is what boxing is about. I want to be in the best fights, fighting the best fighters. As an amateur I've been over the world Russia, Ukraine, USA and Mexico it's something I've done. This is no different."
