Wembley Stadium, London - Olympic gold medal winner Luke Campbell (19-2, 15 KOs) got revenge with a twelve round unanimous decision over Yvan Mendy (40-5-1, 19 KOs) in a WBC lightweight world title eliminator. The scores were 119-109, 118-111 and 116-112.

The fight was a rematch of their December 2015 contest, with Mendy shocking a then undefeated Campbell with a twelve round split decision. Campbell was down in the fifth round of that fight.

Since then, Mendy won his next seven fights. Campbell has won six of his last seven, with a twelve round decision loss to then WBA champion Jorge Linares in September 2017.

The first round was close, with both boxers feeling each other out. Campbell was on the back-foot and looking for counters, while Mendy was coming forward and throwing.

Both had their moments in the second round, with the same temp as Campbell was countering and Mendy was coming forward and landing. Mendy was chasing after Campbell, who was countering from the back foot and avoiding direct exchanges.

Campbell was using his boxing skills to keep an incoming Mendy at bay in the fourth round. He continued to use heavy angles and movements to frustrate Mendy in the fifth. And there was more of the same in the sixth, as Mendy was unable to cut off the ring and corner the Olympian.

Mendy with a much better seventh round, as he was landing well on Campbell and getting through the defense. Campbell came back in the eight, moving and boxing well with shots to the body.

A swing round in the ninth, with both having their moments with landed shots - Campbell with the edge as he swept the last thirty seconds with rapid shots. Mendy unable to change the tide in the tenth, with Campbell still moving and boxing.

Mendy out firing in the eleventh, with both hands flying as he applied the pressure on Campbell. He was landing shots here and there, but Campbell outworked him and avoided a lot of the punches. The twelfth and final round was more of the same with Campbell outboxing a pressure fighter in Mendy.
