Heavyweight contender Luis Ortiz is applying pressure on former unified champion Andy Ruiz.

Ruiz recently contacted promoter Eddie Hearn to inquire about the possibility of a trilogy fight with IBF, IBO, WBA, WBO world champion Anthony Joshua.

In June 2019, Ruiz shocked the world when he dropped Joshua four times to capture the unified heavyweight crown. Six months later, Joshua recaptured the titles when he outboxed Ruiz over twelve rounds.

Earlier this year, Ruiz returned to the ring and got off the floor to win a twelve round decision over veteran Chris Arreola.

Ortiz was ringside for that fight and called out Ruiz in the aftermath.

He says Ruiz told him that he needed more time to get himself ready for this kind of fight.

According to Ortiz, if Ruiz wants a crack at the heavyweight gold then they should fight each other to prove which of them deserves a title shot.

“As always, I'm in the gym, preparing and maintaining myself, getting rid of any rust on me. I can't stay away from the gym and wait for the phone to ring for them to tell me I'm having a fight. When that comes along, they won't catch me off guard," Ortiz told George Ebro.

“The fight [between Ruiz and Arreola] was very close. The fight was a bit of unfair with the judges, but I went there to let him know that I am in line to fight him. If Andy Ruiz wants to fight for the title again, here I am. If he beats me, he has every chance of doing that.

“I have said [that I want to fight him] on several occasions and I keep repeating it. If you are one of the elite in boxing, you shouldn't dodge anyone. You can't say you're not ready to fight King Kong and then say you're ready to fight Wilder, Fury, or Joshua. And what about King Kong? Let's fight."
