Featherweight titleholder Luis Alberto Lopez and Angelo Leo both made weight ahead of Lopez’s fourth title defense, set for Saturday at Tingley Coliseum in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Lopez (30-2, 17 KOs), 30, weighed in at 125.6 pounds on Friday, while Leo (24-1, 11 KOs), also 30, matched him on the scales at 125.6 pounds.
Lopez enters the bout on a 13-fight win streak, highlighted by victories over Josh Warrington in Leeds, England, and Michael Conlan in Belfast, Ireland. His impressive run also includes wins over undefeated prospects Isaac Lowe, Gabriel Flores Jr. and Cristian Baez, as well as an upset victory over former contender Andy Vences.
Leo, riding a four-fight win streak, has secured three consecutive victories in the past year, including a unanimous decision over Eduardo Baez. The former junior featherweight titleholder is aiming to become a two-division belt holder, with his only career loss coming against Stephen Fulton in 2020.
In the co-main event, two undefeated Mexican fighters, 2016 Olympian junior welterweight Lindolfo Delgado (20-0, 15 KOs) and Bryan Flores (26-0-1, 21 KOs), also made weight, both tipping the scales at 139.9 pounds.
Delgado, 29, is coming off a two-fight knockout streak, including a highlight-reel KO of Carlos Sanchez in March. Flores, 28, is making his second appearance on U.S. soil after defeating Shinard Bunch on “ShoBox: The Next Generation” in April 2023, in which he had to recover from a knockdown to secure the win.
The only moment of drama came when junior middleweight Vito Mielnicki Jr. and flyweight Matthew Griego had to strip down to make the contracted weight for their respective bouts. Both fighters successfully made weight.
The main card from Albuquerque will be broadcast on ESPN (10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT), while the undercard will be streamed by ESPN+ (5:50 p.m. ET/2:50 p.m PT).
