IBF super middleweight champion Lucian Bute promised to make Saturday defense in Romania very exciting - unlike last Saturday's heavyweight unification between Wladimir Klitschko and David Haye, which left many disappointed over the lack of action. Bute will face undefeated French boxer Jean-Paul Mendy. Bute has knocked out his last five opponents. Bute also denied reports that he's already looking ahead to a possible fall clash with former middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik.

"I'm making a promise to you that on Saturday it's going to be a spectacular match, not like the one between Klitschko and Haye. My goal is to win and to keep my belt. I prepared very seriously for two months and the only thing in my head is Jean-Paul Mendy, "said Bute.

Mendy promised to shock the champion at the Romexpo in Bucharest.

"We came to win the belt, not to be figurative. I don't consider it an obstacle that we're fighting in Lucian's country. We are professionals and you have to go up against all types of conditions," Mendy said.
