Super welterweight contender Erickson “The Hammer” Lubin scored his biggest win as a professional on June 26th when he stopped former unified champion Jeison “Banana” Rosario in six rounds in the co-feature bout on the Gervonta Davis-Mario Barrios Showtime pay-per-view.

A big right hand hurt Rosario late in the third round.  He briefly recovered but was stopped after two knockdowns in the sixth round.

After the fight, Lubin’s trainer Kevin Cunningham told BoxingScene.com that they deserve a shot at the Jermell Charlo-Brian Castaño winner. They will fight for undisputed status on July 17th when all four major titles will be on the line.

“I think Hammer made a huge statement last [Saturday]. He’s cut from the throwback fighter’s cloth. Most guys that are sitting in the #1 mandatory spot would look for a soft touch until they get the title shot. Hammer’s only interested in fighting the best in the division. So while he’s waiting for his shot, he’s willing to fight the other top names in the division,” Cunningham said.

If the fight doesn’t come to fruition, Kevin Cunningham has another big name in mind for Lubin’s next fight.

Former two-division champion Danny Garcia recently announced that he was moving up to 154-pounds and Cunningham said that they would love to introduce him to the division.

“We only want a marquee fight next. If for some reason we can’t get the Charlo-Castaño winner, we would be willing to oblige Danny Garcia and welcome him to the 154-pound division,” Cunningham told BoxingScene.com.
