Philadelphia - The second upset of the night occurred following Ortiz’s win.

Puerto Rico’s Jose Lopez stopped Kazakh southpaw Askhat Ualikhanov following six largely one-sided rounds in a junior welterweight fight.

Lopez hurt Ualikhanov twice with right hands toward the end of the fifth round. He drilled Ualikhanov with a thudding right to the body near the end of the sixth round as well.

Following the sixth round, Marco Contreras, Ualikhanov’s trainer, told referee Benjy Esteves to stop their scheduled eight-rounder.

Lopez (12-1, 10 KOs) bounced back from a surprising second-round knockout defeat in his last fight. Nicaraguan journeyman Carlos Velasquez (26-35-2, 16 KOs) upset Lopez in that August 10 bout in Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico.

Ualikhanov, 28, lost for the second time as a pro. He was disqualified in the third round of his pro debut in August 2016 for hitting his opponent, Daniel Bastien, while Ualikhanov was holding him down.

In the following fight, 18-year-old Jeremy Adorno won this pro debut by out-boxing Sebastian Baltazar in their four-round, super bantamweight bout.

Adorno, a southpaw from Allentown, Pennsylvania, won all four rounds on each of the three judges’ scorecards (40-36, 40-36, 40-36). The 26-year-old Baltazar, of Tacoma, Washington, has lost three fights in a row (1-4).

Another popular local prospect, Philadelphia heavyweight Sonny Conto, made quick work of Omar Acosta in the bout after Adorno won.

The 23-year-old Conto (2-0, 2 KOs) unleashed a vicious combination of boady and head punches as Acosta backed against the ropes. Eventually, a left hook to the side of the head by Conto knocked Acosta to the canvas.

Acosta (1-5, 1 KO) got up, but Rosato wisely waved an end to the fight.

In the final fight before ESPN’s telecast started, Philadelphia super featherweight Donald Smith knocked out Jose Antonio Martinez with a straight left hand in the fourth round and final round.

Smith’s shot left Mexico’s Martinez (11-18, 6 KOs) flat on his back, unable to continue. Esteves swiftly waved an end to their fight at 2:01 of the fourth round.

The 26-year-old Smith moved to 9-0 and recorded his sixth knockout.
