Teofimo Lopez can’t wait to lay his fists on George Kambosos Jr., provided their much delayed lightweight title bout actually ever happens.

Lopez and Kambosos have been circling each other for the past year but their title bout, which will put up for grabs Lopez’s WBA/WBO/IBF lightweight titles, has repeatedly been postponed due to a myriad of reasons. The latest delay involves the fight moving off the Oct. 4 date at Madison Square Garden in New York City for Oct. 16 at the Barclays Center in nearby Brooklyn because the event promoter, Triller, reportedly does not want their pay-per-view show to compete with Monday Night Football telecasts.

It has been reported that the fight could be in jeopardy of falling out altogether because Kambosos has not only not agreed to the new date (at the time of writing) but is requesting more money as well.

In the meantime, the vitriol between both fighters continues to ratchet up. In his latest round of trashtalking, Lopez called into question Kambosos’ supposedly heroic lineage; Kambosos, who lives and trains in Sydney, Australia, is of Greek descent, with ancestors who hail from the ancient warrior city of Sparta. Kambosos sports a tattoo of a Spartan warrior on his back.

“I get it he can use the Spartan sh!t all he wants,” Lopez said in a recent interview with IFL TV. “I’m not going to disrespect the Spartans, but my guy ain’t a Spartan.

“I’ve got a video of him getting knocked out in the amateurs that I can post right now. He got knocked out with a mean-ass uppercut, with 10-ounce gloves. Amateur 10-ounce gloves and headgear and never got back up. You’re not a Spartan. You’re just a fraud. A Spartan don’t stay down. A Spartan gets back up. You wanna say ‘300’ [the film] and all that. Don’t disrespect the gods, bro.”

Lopez (16-0, 12 KOs) went so far as to say that he would not be surprised if he earned a stoppage against Kambosos (19-0, 10 KOs) in the opening round.

“I call it in the first round, man,” Lopez continued. “Call it the first round. That guy is there for me. If he tries to box, he can’t box me. [Vasiliy] Loma [chenko] tried it. Can’t box me. You try to come at me. [Richard] Commey tried it. You gonna get dropped. You know what I mean? What way you want to get out? How you want this? The whole thing is, like, there’s no way out, my guy. There’s no way out.

“Your going to collect what you’re going to collect, but I’m going to make sure you get a beating out of this, for sure, because you took it to a whole different personal level. Like, [Diego] Magdaleno learned this lesson. Just a little bit.

“But this guy, it’s going to be twice as bad. I feel like if I break his f------ eye socket, I’m sorry, but I'm not sorry. I feel like if I snap his vertebrae, I'm not sorry. I really want to show everybody what my power is capable of and what my mind is capable of. If I really want to hurt someone to that extreme, I will. That’s really what it comes down to.”
