Aarhus, Denmark - Lolenga Mock (43-16-1) won the vacant IBA super middleweight title on split decision after a very tough fight against Argentinian Mateo Damian Veron (28-24-3).

All three judges had it 114-112 with two for Mock and one for Veron, who had two points deducted, one in the 7th for holding and another in the tenth for pushing and especially the second points deduction looked harsh on the visitor.

As for holding, well, every fight with Mock involves a good deal of holding, wrestling on the inside and infighting due to the fact the Dane is right in your face all night long but sometimes not working effectively and who does what is sometimes hard to tell. In this fight Veron got all the blame

How you scored the fight depends on what you award but even so many rounds were very close and difficult to score: it was Mock´s relentless pressure or Veron´s sharper punches but it must be said that Mock was badly stunned in the second and looked shaky in both the tenth  and eleventh and it appeared that he was only keeping himself upright by leaning into Veron.

Mock worked as always very hard but was seldom effective and his timing appeared to be off too and to this reporter Veron looked like the winner. The name of the game is to score with effective punches and the Argentinean did just that.

What is next for the new IBA champ remains to be seen. This fight was built as a farewell fight and the IBA have already sanctioned Eric Moon vs Justin Thomas to fight for the soon to be vacant title but if a good offer comes in for a defence Mock might want to go through with it.

Olympic Gold Medalist Shakhobidin Zoirov (2-0) stopped Mishiko Shubitidze 2.20 into first round. The Georgian was down twice and was badly mismatched. Zoirov, from Uzbekistan, showed his class but why this fight was made is a good question.

German middleweight Thulasi Tharumalingam (6-0) stopped Giorgi Bliadze (8-15) at 1.28 of the fourth. Bliadze looked out of shape and he was hurt by bodyshots and went down twice before it was called off. Before that Bliadze had his moments but couldn´t keep it up due to his lack of conditioning.

Local hero Frank Madsen (3-0) knocked out Maksims Dembovskis (1-7) with a right to the body 2.23 into the second. The two looked evenly matched in the first but then Madsen stunned Dembovskis with a right and took over the fight.

Heavyweight Louison Loizou (5-0) from Cyprus opened Mohamed Therani´s and MTK Global´s show at the Viby Hall with a first round knockout over Pauls Vilbergs, a debutant with no knowledge of boxing. It was over at 1.25 and could have been stopped sooner.

Super middleweight Haris Dzindo (10-0) outscored Benjamin Skender (5-15) over four. It was scored 40-36 twice and 40-35 in this no knockdown affair that was dominated by Dzindo all the way.

Former amateur star Hurshid Tojibaev (2-0) failed to shine against Georgian spoiler Irakli Shariashvili (5-3-1) in a superfeather fight over six rounds. Tojibaev won every round but could never get his opponent in trouble despite going all out in the sixth. It was scored 60-54 twice and 60-53.

Cruiserweight Shahriyar Weissi (4-2) again showed skills but not conditioning in winning over Murat Novalic (0-5) in a four rounder where both tired more and more along the way. Weissi was a clear winner though with 40-36 in all cards.
