New York - Not a single person in the camp of Gennadiy Golovkin (38-1-1, 34 KO’s) seems to think that Saturday's fight against Steve Rolls (19-0, 10 KO’s) is a cake walk.

Golovkin returns to the ring after his longest inactivity stint between fights. Golovkin has not fought since last September when he suffered his first loss of his career against Canelo Alvarez (52-1-2, 35 KO’s).

Although many feel Golovkin deserved the victory, they know a third fight with Canelo is likely at stake with Rolls.

Longtime promoter Tom Loeffler knows there can be no missteps.

“We saw what just happened last Saturday night in this very building,” Loeffler told BoxingScene.com in regards to Andy Ruiz’s huge upset over Anthony Joshua inside Madison Square Garden.

“Steve Rolls is very motivated and undefeated and wants to see if lightning strikes twice. The fans want to see GGG back in the ring with his new trainer. Abel Sanchez had so much success with GGG. He’s one of the most dominating fighters here in the building, everyone’s looking forward to it.”

Canelo’s name has come up multiple times this week, but the task at hand is Rolls.

“Nobody is looking past Stave Rolls,” stated Loeffler. “Everyone saw what happened last Saturday and no one is going to talk about a Canelo fight if that happens here this Saturday. If he’s not focus on Steve Rolls and has an off week, you saw what can happen. So GGG knows what’s at stake.”

Should GGG win, then the negotiation for the Canelo trilogy seem imminent.

However, Canelo has been on record saying that he wants to add the WBO middleweight title to his collection as he already holds the WBA, WBC, and IBF belts. He has also stated Golovkin should get a title first if he wants the trilogy.

Loeffler feels it’s all a negotiation ploy.

“I think that’s a lot of negotiating and posturing,” stated Loeffler.

“DAZN wants that fight, the sanctioning bodies want to make the fight, and the fans want that fight. The WBC ordered Canelo to fight GGG before, he didn’t care about the belts, and he dropped the belts. GGG had three belts when they fought and Canelo had none.

"Both guys have great fighters great fan bases, Canelo sold out the Garden when they fought here and GGG sold it out twice, they broke records in Vegas when they fought twice. Now the fans can see Canelo on DAZN and GGG. If GGG is successful we’ll figure out a way to make it happen.”
