Liam Taylor has warned people to write him off at his peril ahead of his European welterweight title showdown with David Avanesyan this weekend.

Taylor (23-1-1, 11 KOs) challenges Avanesyan (27-3-1, 15 KOs) for his title at Wembley Arena on Saturday, with the fight broadcast live on Sky Sports.

Taylor heads into the fight following a string of impressive performances, while Avanesyan stopped Josh Kelly last time out, but Taylor feels that performance wasn't as impressive as a lot of people have made out.

Taylor told Sky Sports: "I've put myself in a position where I'm ready. This opportunity came up and there was no way I was turning it down.

"I like getting involved, but I know he can punch so I've got to be aware of that early doors. I believe I can punch enough myself to make him stand off me.

"I think the Josh Kelly fight has got people hyping Avanesyan up a bit off that. I believe I'd have beaten Kelly in the same fashion, so that would have been no different.

"This opportunity really motivated me. I'm single-minded. I love training, I love being in the gym. Boxing or training is my life. I don't really part of go out, I just love the gym. I love the competition. I'm a competitive person, and I know that I'm good enough to win that title."

Elsewhere on Saturday's card at Wembley Arena, Steven Ward goes up against unbeaten Mikael Lawal in a cruiserweight bout.
