Undefeated junior welterweight contender Liam Paro of Australia is “absolutely gutted” after suffering a training camp injury that has forced him to withdraw from a scheduled fight with Robbie Davies Jr.

According to reporter Ben Damon of Fox Sports, Paro withdrew after sustaining a facial fracture and is physically unable to move forward with the high-stakes bout against Davies.

There is no information on how the injury had occurred. A week ago, Paro revealed that he was sparring in Las Vegas with undisputed lightweight champion Devin Haney.

Paro's bout with Davies was set to take place on March 11 in Liverpool. The event will be headlined by light heavyweight contender Callum Smith, who returns to the ring against Pawel Stepien.

The injury is reportedly not severe, with Paro hoping to see action in the near future.

Back in October, Paro raised his record to 23-0 with an impressive first round blowout of countryman Brock Jarvis.

The 26-year-old fighter holds a top ranking under the WBO, sitting in the third position. He was hoping that a win over Davies, who is riding a three fight win streak, would raise his standing with the organization.

At the moment, no replacement has been announced for Davies.
