Some fighters are brought in to win and others are brought in for slaughter. Liam Paro was supposedly the latter.

Montana Love was the name. He wasn’t a household one but he was clearly the more known fighter. Coming in as the B side was perfectly alright with Paro. He didn’t need or care that few believed in him. He just needed the big stage that was provided for him by Love.

On December 9th, the hubris-filled attitude that Love normally struts around with ostensibly stripped away after just a few short rounds. Everything Paro threw was both pinpoint and deadly, leading to a sixth-round stoppage.

Normally, Paro isn’t in a position of power. He still isn’t. The super lightweight division has several elite-level fighters that call the shots. Although he doesn’t have as much authority, Paro would like to jump in with two of the more recognizable names immediately.

“I just want the big names,” Paro told FightHype.com during a recent sit-down interview. “Give me my shot and I’ll show that I’m gonna be champion. I want (Devin) Haney, (Ryan) Garcia, everyone.”

Ironically enough, Garcia and Haney were in the midst of negotiations. Nothing was ever concrete and it remains to be seen if they will actually fight, with Garcia also targeting Rolando Romero.

Paro (24-0, 15 KOs) is seemingly the odd man out. He could opt for fights against Regis Prograis and Richardson Hitchins but Paro wants more. Patience is needed more than ever. To a certain extent, he doesn’t mind playing the waiting game. Although he doesn’t know when, he believes he’ll get his shot. When he does, he won’t waste the opportunity.

“It’s all gonna happen. I know my ability, I know what level I’m at. I’m gonna keep proving that. Just put me in there and I’ll show that I’ll beat those guys too.”
