Brock Jarvis posted a career heaviest weight for his fifth straight fight.

It’s to be expected as the 24-year-old knockout artist will now fight in his seventh weight division in just seven years as a pro. Jarvis tipped the scales at 139 ¾ pounds  for his domestic showdown with countryman Liam Paro atop Matchroom Boxing’s debut in the Australian market Saturday evening at South Bank Piazza in South Brisbane.

The locally based Paro (22-0, 13KOs) checked in at 139 ½ pounds, as he risks a guaranteed shot at the WBO junior welterweight title.

Both boxers made their respective U.S. debuts in their previous outings. Marrickville’s Jarvis (20-0, 18KOs) survived rough moments to prevail via fifth-round stoppage of Alejandro Frias last October 16 in Fresno, California. The bout also doubled as his first fight with Matchroom, taking place at lightweight after a one-fight stop in the 130-pound division last April.

Prior to that came a featherweight bout for the 5’9” Jarvis after seeming to have settled at junior featherweight where he fought four straight times. The hard-hitting Aussie made his December 2015 pro debut at junior bantamweight.

Paro is a career junior welterweight, turning pro at the weight in March 2016. The 26-year-old southpaw fought exclusively in Australia prior to traveling to Tampa, Florida for his most recent start. It turned out to be his biggest win to date, as Paro survived an opening round knockdown to outpoint Yomar Alamo in their WBO junior welterweight title eliminator. Paro is now the mandatory challenger to lineal/WBO champ Josh Taylor (19-0, 13KOs).

Locally based heavyweight Demsey McKean faces Germany’s Patrick Korte in the evening’s co-feature, scheduled for ten rounds.

McKean (21-0, 13KOs) hit the scales at 251 ½ pounds, well-proportioned over his 6’6” frame for his first fight on home soil since last May. Korte (18-1-1, 15KOs) was 234.1 pounds for what will mark his first career fight outside of Germany. The 38-year-old is coming off a ten-round draw with Jorge Alejandro Arias on June 11 in his Essen hometown.

Saturday’s contest comes as a consolation for McKean. The unbeaten southpaw was in line to face former title challenger Dillian Whyte in late November, with talks heading in the right direction until suddenly hitting a wall. The intention is to revisit such a fight, as well as a desired showdowns with former New Zealand’s former WBO heavyweight titlist Joseph Parker and current IBF mandatory challenger Filip Hrgovic (15-0, 12KOs).

Also on the show, 2020 Olympic quarterfinalist Skye Nicolson (4-0, 0KOs) enters her first career ten-round and regional title fight as she faces countrywoman Krystina Jacobs (6-3, 0KOs).

Yatala’s Nicolson weighed 125.6 pounds for her first pro fight in Australia, having not fought at home since winning the Australian Olympic Trials in December 2019. Tasmania's Jacobs was over the limit, weighing 126.3 pounds and will have two hours to shed 0.3 pounds.

Nicolson turned pro this past March in San Diego, California. The 27-year-old featherweight has fought twice each in the U.S. and U.K., the latter which has served as her training camp headquarters.

Below are the weights for the rest of the undercard.
