Danish official Jan Christensen will not be judging the Ryad Merhy vs Imre Szello fight for the WBA interim cruiserweight title this coming weekend after a protest from Szello´s promoter Felix Racz.

Christensen was a judge when Racz brought another fighter to Belgium in Norbert Harcza, who lost to Mikhail Vesialou. It was scored 98-92, 97.-93 and 100-90 from the judges - and the last came from Christensen. Racz felt this was well out of line and made a protest to the WBA when he learned the Dane had been appointed as an official in the Merhy vs Szello fight and the WBA listened and Spaniard Jesus Morat steps in for Christensen.

French Asloum Event staged a big show at the Palais des Sports Marcel Cerdan in Levallois Perret with super lightweights Yazid Amghar (23-0) and Massimilian Ballisai (23-8) on top in a fight for the vacant EU title (also Oct 12).

Amghar was down in third but got up and kept the pressure up until he was staggered again in the seventh but again he kept coming, broke through and Ballisai retired and didn´t come out for the ninth. Heavyweight Newfel Outah (17-3) looked to be on his way to lose to Cyril Leonet (15-11-3) in a fight for the vacant national title but knocked out his opponent in the sixth. In other action middleweight Christian Mbili (15-0) added the WBC Francophone title to his collection of belts (the third) by stopping Mexican Abraham Juarez (15-4) in the ninth on a scheduled ten-rounder.

Super middleweight Timo Laine (26-12) knocked out Hungarian Laszlo Toth (7-2) in the third in the headliner of the annual pro-am show at the Paasitorni in Helsinki (Finland) on Friday night October 11. Laine landed with a left hook the body and that ended matters but it did look a bit too easy.. It was scheduled for eight.

Former WBA cruiserweight king, 49-year Firat Arslan (47-8-3), has told German media negotiations are underways for a fight against IBO champ Kevin Lerena ((24-1).

If there is a deal Lerena vs Arslan could go ahead in February of 2020 in Goeppingen (Germany). Should Arslan win he will then be the oldest world champ ever. Firat is also interested in a third fight against Marco Huck but this time at heavyweight.
