According to promoter Andrei Ryabinsky of World of Boxing, there is no pre-fight drug testing protocol for Saturday's fight in Russia between IBF/WBA cruiserweight champion Denis Lebedev (29-2, 22KOs) and mandatory challenger Murat Gassiev (24-0, 17KOs).

Both fighters will be tested immediately after the fight.

"Lebedev and Gassiev will be subject to doping tests only after the fight," said Ryabinsky. "There will not be a special program as there currently is for the fight with Povetkin. Everything here will be handled under the usual scenario where the boxers tests will take place after the match."

Ryabisnky will stage another big card in Russia on December 17th, when heavyweights Alexander Povetkin and Bermane Stiverne collide in a WBC final eliminator.

That fight involves a strict random drug testing protocol which is being run by VADA. The testing program is in place due to the WBC's initiative to crack down on fighters using performance enhancing drugs.

Povetkin was initially scheduled to face WBC heavyweight world champion Deontay Wilder in May. The fight fell out when Povetkin tested positive for banned substance meldonium.

The WBC completed an investigation and decided not to apply a suspension or fine on Povetkin. There is however an ongoing legal battle over the canceled event, with Wilder and his handlers filing a case against Povetkin and his promoter seeking damages for breach of contract. There is also a breach of contract counter-suit, with Ryabinsky and Povetkin going after Wilder and his team.
