Junior flyweight Luis Lazarte says that he had nothing to do with the riot that broke out last Saturday night in Buenos Aires, Argentina. After Filipino contender Johnreil Casimero stopped Lazarte in the tenth round to capture the IBF's interim title - a shower of chairs and bottles were thrown into the ring by a gang of fans. A angry mob rushed inside the ring and attacked Casimero and his handlers. Even some of the officials, including referee Eddie Claudio, suffered injuries in the riot.

On Thursday, the IBF issued a lifetime ban on Lazarte, which prevents the boxer from competing in their title fights. Lazarte, 40-years-old, is already looking to retire from boxing but the Argentinian fan favorite is still very angry with the organization's decision.

"What can you expect from ignorant people. They are ignorant. I had nothing to do with the incidents. I have nothing to do with whoever entered the ring [after the fight. [The verbal threat on the ref] was a heated moment. In such a moment in time, a person can say anything. I apologized to a lot of people. I apologized to the referee. I apologized to the Filipinos worldwide. I do not know who entered the ring. I do not know who they are. And I have nothing to do with them. I apologized to [Casimero] and luckily he accepted my apology," Lazarte said.
