Lawrence Okolie (15-0, 12 KOs) made short work of Nikodem Jezewski (19-1-1, 9 KOs) as he worked out the frustration of missing out on a world title shot on the Joshua-Pulev undercard at Wembley.

Jewewski hit the floor three times in the four minutes 45 seconds the fight lasted, as the Polish boxer could simply not take the Londoner’s power.

Okolie had been due to face Krzysztof Glowacki for the vacant WBO title but a failed COVID test meant the Glowacki was out, leaving him to face another Pole in Jewewski.

It looked a miracle that he made it out of the first round, as he was dropped heavily by a right to the body in the first 30 seconds. Not long after, a right landed to the side of Jewewski’s head that sent him into a kind of shuddering spasm, although he stayed on his feet, until another right landed that has a similar affect, only this time he crumbled to the floor.

He made it back to his feet again and, after initially looking to hold, he tried his best to fire back towards the end of the round.

It took Okolie some time to pin him down in the second but he then wound up a big right that took him clean off his feet as he fell on his knees. He beat the count but referee Phil Edwards waved it off at 1:45 of the second.
