Former junior middleweight champion Erislandy Lara (25-3-2, 14 KOs) is looking for an immediate rematch against Jarrett Hurd (22-0, 15 KOs).

In the best fights of 2018, so far, Hurd won a very close twelve round split decision over Lara in an IBF, WBA, IBO junior middleweight unification at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.

Two judges scored it 114-113 for Hurd, and the third had it 114-113 for Lara.

Hurd was able to secure the victory with a knockdown in the twelfth and final round to swing two of the three scorecards in his favor.

Lara was not very happy with the scorecards, and specifically with the judging by Dave Morretti.

"Showtime, [Floyd] Mayweather, [Jermell] Charlo, [Steve] Farhood, Paulie [Malignaggi] and everyone at fights saw me win. I can't understand how Dave Morretti had me losing four of the first five rounds... that's unacceptable and suspicious.... for that reason I protested before the fight to have him removed and that wasn't done," Lara stated to BoxingScene.com.

Lara is fully focused at the moment on getting a rematch with Hurd - and he promises that it's going to be another action-filled fight.

"I want the rematch next," said Lara

"I felt it was a unbelievable fight you know we stood toe to toe and gave the fans a good one. I feel strongly going into that last round I was up three or four points. I landed the crisper, harder shots and felt I won. No disrespect to Hurd, he is a young warrior but he said he would be the first to decisively beat me and that wasn't the case.

"I look forward to that fight being reviewed and have the rematch given to me next. There's only one winner from a rematch and that's the fans. I look forward to closing the last chapter of my career with dramatic wars!"
