Unbeaten British Middleweight Champion Tommy Langford has talked up a possible domestic clash with Billy Joe Saunders, should he win the WBO’s interim belt.

On April 22nd, Langford faces hard-hitting Avtandil Khurtsidze at the Leicester Arena in the biggest fight of his life. His opponent is the number one ranked Middleweight with the WBO.

Meanwhile Saunders, who holds the WBO World Title, could be in line to face IBF, IBO, WBC, WBO champion Gennady Golovkin this summer to unify all four belts in the division and be crowned as Middleweight king.

“I understand that he wants a mega-fight, I wish him all the best. Now I’ve got my chance at the interim WBO [Title]. If the Golovkin fight doesn’t happen then Billy Joe has to fight me,” Langford told iFL TV.

“I’ve said yes to everything and always do. I’m fighting someone nobody wants to fight! I’ll fight Billy Joe - I’ll fight anybody!”

Brooklyn-based Georgian Khurtsidze boasts 21 knockouts from his 32 career wins, and has been victorious in his last nine contests since being outpointed by Hassan N'Dam N'Jikam in 2010.

“He is dangerous, he’s avoided, nobody wants him,” continued Langford. “But at the same time you can’t look to get to the top of the sport for Champion status then s**t yourself when a big fight comes along.

“You’ve got to take them, so that’s what I’m doing. I got to the number two spot with the WBO, got offered a big fight and took it. I’m doing what all fighters should do,” he added.
