Bolton’s undefeated Kyle Lomotey is set to return to the ring on the April 4 Contender VIP show at The Point, Lancashire Cricket Club, as he readies to push on with his career after being given the all-clear to box again after a brain scan issue in late 2019.

Lomotey impressed massively last time out, as he forced a retirement against tough Scot Craig Kelly, however since he has encountered issues regarding his annual British boxing board of control required brain scan.

The past few months had been agonizing for Lomotey, however, it was recently confirmed that the middleweight has been cleared to fight once more with his return being set for April 4 at Lancashire CC.

Lomotey opened up about his grueling few months away from the ring and his emotions on being allowed to compete once more.

He said, “The last few months haven’t been easy for me, but I’m absolutely delighted to have been given my license back and be allowed to compete again as a professional. I want to say thank you to my training and management team who have stuck with me throughout this and have backed me to the hills. I also want to thank Mike Le-Gallez and Contender VIP Promotions who have supported me throughout my issues and have given me an opportunity to fight on their April 4 show.

“It has been a rollercoaster few months for me. I was naturally worried and unsure about what my future held but thankfully all of the issues in regards to my brain scan were resolved as I was confident that they would be. I have stayed fit despite the brain scan issues but now I can now fully get back to doing what I do best which is fighting.”

Lomotey returns to action on Contender VIP’s April 4 Promotion entitled ‘The Battle of Manchester’ which sees 4 super lightweights battle it out for the Contender VIP trophy as well as title action between Steve Brogan and Jimmy First. Lomotey gave his take about coming back to action on a stacked card in Manchester.

The undefeated middleweight stated, “To be able to get back in action in Manchester on a card stacked with talented fighters that are all in evenly matched contests. That’s hard to find these days, but as a fighter, you want to be involved in shows with exciting fights as that’s what’s gets the fans involved.

“I want to thank Mike Le-Gallez again from Contender VIP Promotions for giving me the opportunity to get back in action on this show. Mike has been great with me over the last few months and I can’t wait to put on a massive performance to say thank you to all my friends and family for all their support over the last few months.

“I feel I am on the verge of titles as a professional and I want to put on a performance that shows I am title-worthy.  I know that a lot of eyes are on this fight and on my return, so I want to make sure this is a tip-top performance which I believe it will be and then I want to push on for titles this year.”
