It took Kurt Scoby a few more rounds than usual Friday night, but the powerful junior welterweight prospect eventually caught Narciso Carmona with the type of punishing punches that ended their scheduled eight-round fight.

Scoby battered Carmona during the final minute of the sixth round, which forced referee Malik Waleed to halt the action in DAZN’s main event from OTX Arena. Carmona remained on his feet, but the Spanish southpaw clearly was hurt and didn’t complain when Waleed stopped their fight with 29 seconds to go in the sixth round.

The 27-year-old Scoby, a former college football running back from Duarte, California, improved to 13-0 and produced his 11th knockout. Carmona, 25, entered the ring unbeaten, but he had defeated a very low level of opposition while building his record to 11-0-1 (6 KOs).

The taller Carmona came on in the fifth round and seemed comfortable pressing the action, but Scoby overpowered him in the sixth round.

Scoby blasted Carmona with a right hand that landed to the side of his head with just under a minute to go in the sixth round. Another right by Scoby further hurt Carmona a few seconds later.

Sensing Carmona was ready to be stopped, Scoby unloaded numerous left hooks and right hands that made Waleed step between them to prevent Carmona from taking unnecessary punishment.

Carmon clipped Scoby with back-to-back left hands just after the halfway point of the sixth round. Scoby blasted Carmona with a right hand almost 25 seconds into the sixth round.

Scoby rocked Carmona with a left hook that connected with less than 10 seconds to go in what was otherwise a successful fifth round for the underdog.

Carmona’s straight left caught Scoby a little less than a minute into the fifth round. Scoby’s straight right down the middle landed 25 seconds into the fifth round.

A hard right by Scoby landed as Carmona backed up with just over 1:40 remaining in the fourth round. An awkward right uppercut by Scoby caught Carmona about 20 seconds into the fourth round and caused Carmona to hold.

Scoby caught Carmona with a right hand up top a little less than a minute into the third round. Carmona otherwise made it difficult for Scoby to connect cleanly in those three minutes.

Carmona took Scoby’s right hand well with just under 40 seconds remaining in the second round. A right by Scoby landed 1:10 into the second round.

Scoby caught Carmona with another right hand that landed with just over a minute to go in the first round.

Scoby landed a right hand that knocked Carmona into the ropes with just under 1:45 on the clock in the first round. Scoby lunged at Carmona, but his right hand didn’t land flush barely 20 seconds into the opening round.
