MGM GRAND, LAS VEGAS, NV - On Tuesday Canelo Alvarez and Sergey Kovalev made their "Grand Arrivals" to officially kick off fight week for their showdown that takes place Saturday night.  The entire card will be streamed live on DAZN.

Canelo holds the WBA middleweight and super middleweight titles (in addition to the WBC "Franchise Champion" middleweight designation).  If he is victorious on Saturday night, he will become the first fighter since the great Henry Armstrong to hold three titles simultaneously.

After Alvarez  and Kovalev were done meeting with the press, BoxingScene.com caught up with one of Kovalev's main sparring partners.  Super middleweight veteran Denis "Momma's Boy" Douglin was in camp with Kovalev in California and gave us some insight into his experience.

"I was in camp with Kovalev and that was a great experience for me. It was a great experience for me because I did the whole camp orthodox and as you guys know I am southpaw. I have only sparred Shawn Porter orthodox. This was the first time I sparred someone that is right handed and that is bigger than me and he is good. He is the best. It is safe to say that he got the better of every session 100%. He definitely did but I was able to land some shots. I was able to see his strengths and weaknesses.  Everyone knows that his jab is amazing. He has a great jab," Douglin stated.

Douglin said that he learned a lot from the experience and also revealed another tactic that the hard hitting Russian does that helps give him an advantage. He said that this was the first time that he worked with someone who specifically targeted his arms and explained how effective the strategy was.

"Another thing he does really well is he punches the arms and stuff like that. I guess that is a European thing where I have my hands up and he beats my arms up. I never thought that was really very effective but after 3 rounds I was like, 'damn I can't lift my arms." So I thought that was really effective," Douglin told BoxingScene.com.
