Elvin Gambarov is ready for his close-up.

The Miami-based Azerbaijani prospect will make his U.S. televised debut this weekend, as he faces Mexico City’s Diego Cruz (21-9-2, 17KOs). The scheduled 10-round regional junior middleweight title fight is part of the spring season premiere of Boxeo Telemundo which takes place this Friday from Osceola Heritage Park in Kissimmee, Florida.

A sold-out but socially distanced crowd is expected at the venue, which has become a series staple. Friday’s show will feature a number of new faces who hope to develop a series following, including Gambarov (14-0, 13KOs) who enters both his first title fight of any kind and first scheduled 10-round contest.

“I am excited to fight my first regional title on this televised event,” noted the 29-year-old knockout artist, who has stopped his last nine opponents. “We are going to treat the audience to a great fight.”

Gambarov enters the ring for the third time in 2021, having registered a pair of early knockout wins in Colombia where he has spent six of his last seven starts.

The bout comes in chief support to a series-favorite theme between Mexico and Puerto Rico. Rising prospect George ‘El Yuyu’ Acosta (11-1, 1KOs) fights for the second time in 19 days, as the 24-year-old Mexican-American from Whittier, California faces Vieques, Puerto Rico’s Gadwin ‘El Abayarde’ Rosa (11-1, 9KOs) in a scheduled 10-round regional junior lightweight title fight.

"We are happy to start off our [spring] series with a great fight between two prospects," notes Felix ‘Tutico’ Zabala Jr., president of All-Star Boxing, Inc., the primary content provider for Boxeo Telemundo. “Fans will be able to attend this great night of boxing with all safety measures in place as we hope to put this pandemic behind us and bring life back to normal.”
