There appeared to be some bad blood brewing between Kieron Conway and Macaulay McGowan as the two men went head to head at their final press conference.

Conway (15-1-1, 3 KOs) meets McGowan (14-1-1, 3 KOs) on the Anthony Joshua vs. Kubrat Pulev undercard at Wembley Arena this weekend, live on Sky Sports Box Office and DAZN.

There were heated words exchanged between the two men on Thursday, with each of them extremely confident.

Conway said: “I’m massively focused. I always look at what’s in front of me, and I’m here to do a job.

“Fair play to Macaulay for stepping in on short notice, but I’ll fight fire with fire if I have to.

“I think there is a statement needed from me, and this is the perfect place to do it. He’s delusional saying he’s going to knock me out, and I’ll overwhelm him on the night.”

McGowan said: “Life is about being resilliant and bouncing back. People think I can’t do it, I don’t care what anybody thinks. I’m coming to win.

“I’m not going to sit here and say I’ll come for anything different. I’m coming for a war. I’m here to entertain.

“I’ve stepped in on a week’s notice and I need to make a statement and do what I do best. I wouldn’thave taken the fight if I didn’t think I could win.”

Elsewhere on Saturday’s bill, Hughie Fury goes up against Mariusz Wach in a heavyweight contest.
